Austin Ranked a Top Tech City in the Nation

Bizjournal.com identified U.S. Metropolitan cities with the highest concentrations of high-tech companies, technology-oriented jobs, and workers with advanced degrees. With a high-tech workforce of more than 54,000, Austin ranks seventh on a list of the nation’s biggest tech cities with more than 500,000 residents.
The study focused on a group of high-tech industries defined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics as businesses where at least a quarter of all employees are directly involved in technology-oriented work. This includes the aerospace, computer, control-instruments, pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries and scientific research-and-development services. Read More→

A recent study from Forbes.com ranks Austin as the #2 most popular city to move to in the United States, beating Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The state of Texas, with Austin as the fore runner, is attracting new residents seeking better job opportunities, and standard of living. An analysis of data from Relocation.com shows Texas continues to move in a positive direction. The data for the Relocation.com study was collected from 2007, 2008, and the first quarter of 2009.
