Although the cold Texas winter nights may have you staying indoors in the evening, it’s time to emerge from your Lake Travis custom homes to experience theatre like you’ve never seen it before: The 18th annual FronteraFest 2011 is happening now at Hyde Park Theatre.

FronteraFest is fringe theatre. What is fringe theatre, you may ask? It’s anything off-the-wall, alternative, offbeat, new or not in the mainstream. All you can expect is the unexpected.

There are several ways to experience FronteraFest. You can choose to attend The Short Fringe from now until Feb. 12. Every night you can come out to see four or five plays that last no longer than 25 minutes each. These can include monologues, plays in progress, comedy improv, cabaret singers, dancers, short films and multimedia productions to name a few. Weekly performances are $14 a person, Best of Week performances are $16 and Best of Fest performances are $18. Read More→

Nothing creates the seamless flow from inside to outside like a 20’ disappearing glass wall! In 2004, Sterling Custom Homes introduced this innovative concept to the Austin area in a Showcase Home built in Flintrock Falls. Since then we have installed more than 30 disappearing glass walls in the Austin custom homes that we design and build for our clients.

Pocketing into a wall cavity, these glass sliding doors are quite dramatic. Even when closed, the view through the expansive glass is truly impressive. When installed in a home this door system typically opens up to a large, covered outdoor living space. Toss in a lake or Hill Country view and you have one of the most impressive features imaginable!

The disappearing glass wall is the perfect addition to a custom home; especially for those who enjoy Read More→

Many people are apprehensive about building Austin custom homes because they are overwhelmed by the many decisions they will have to make. While it is true that there is much to be determined, we take the time to get to know our clients so well that we are able to narrow the options down to the products that will best fit their style and budget.

An example of narrowing down a buyer’s available options can be seen when choosing the type of material for the driveway. Depending on the community requirements, a client could choose from simple brushed concrete, exposed aggregate, salt finished, stained concrete, stamped concrete, paver bands and full pavers. To make it more interesting, you can also combine the above materials to make your driveway more unique. For instance, you could combine exposed aggregate with paver bands or salt finished and stained concrete.

Knowing the style of the home, the preferences of the homebuyer and the community requirements help us narrow the choices for our clients and provide examples of each finish to assist them in making the selection that best suits their needs. Read More→
