Another Start in The Reserve at Lake Travis
Posted by:Sterling Custom Homes is quickly becoming the “builder of choice” for property owners interested in building the highest quality, best value custom Austin luxury real estate in The Reserve at Lake Travis!
Yesterday we poured our most recent foundation at the Mahood Residence, 2109 Ruffian Heights Cove, on a cliff overlooking the magnificent Lake Travis. This home will be a beautiful addition to that fine community and marks our second custom home of only a handful of custom home starts in the area.
The Reserve is a unique and coveted community boasting incredible Lake Travis frontage, a full-service Equestrian Center, a Lazy River Pool, world class Marina and a private Cypress Club Pavilion for its members. There’s really nothing like it in this area, with all these amenities constructed at this early stage of its existence. Read More→
Father’s Day is this weekend! We recognize the importance for dad to have a room or retreat that is just for him. In honor of all the fathers out there, here are a few spaces we’ve created in our Austin luxury real estate, specifically for the man of the house.
The Trophy Room: This room is more than just a place to mount trophies; it also has a full bar, locked glass rifle display case, bathroom, fireplace and large TV. This room is a comfortable retreat and an interesting entertaining area. The Summer Kitchen is just outside through the sliding patio doors!
The Music Room: Created as a loft that overlooks a two-story study, this room is a welcome haven for the man who loves to tinker with guitars and other musical instruments. A fun space made specifically to the criteria of our client.
Being one of the top custom Texas home builders in the Austin area means that we take the time to learn about your lifestyle and help you design a space that makes Father’s Day, every day! We’d love to discuss your custom home ideas and show you how we can turn them into reality.

Where the Driveway Meets the Garage
Posted by:Constantly refining our processes at Sterling Custom Homes, Vick Pope, VP of Construction, has developed a driveway application that creates a beautiful finishing touch to your Austin luxury real estate.
In the past, the driveway material was only poured to the exterior of the Garage Apron – exposing the joint where the driveway meets the foundation. Since these are almost always two different finishes, the continuity of the driveway material was broken up – even when the garage door was closed (see photo #1).
Our revised process requires us to drop the foundation at the Garage Apron to accept a finished layer of driveway material that terminates at the lip, where the Garage Door meets the concrete (see photo #2). As you can see, this provides a more unified, seamless flow and a more professional finished look as the driveway material flows up to the closed garage door. Read More→
Homebuilding has changed over the years. In the past, your luxury home builder would directly employ the laborers who would pour your foundation, frame your home, build your cabinets and lay your flooring. Your builder wore a tool belt! In today’s environment, your builder does not directly employ those artisans. They are sub-contractors that your builder oversees. Your builder now manages the funds and directs the activities of your project. Through his/her expertise, your builder controls the quality of the materials and workmanship that creates the added value in your home – and defines his/her reputation as a professional builder in the marketplace.
With that in mind, three of the most important factors in choosing your builder are:
1) The builder’s track record for managing funds. Has the builder ever been bankrupt, leaving clients and vendors in financial distress? This is not necessarily a result of tough economic times. It more often is an indicator that the builder lacks the organization and discipline to manage the funds for several complex building projects. Read More→
